The Ministers of Christian Churches and their (Un)Married Life in the Czech Republic

The presented work focuses on the topic of priests of selected Christian Churches, and their potential possibility to live in marriage. In order to view pastors comprehensively, it is essential to define who a priest is, how it is possible to become one, how to terminate this status, what the rights, duties and punishments for the priests are and what hierarchy each Church has. A historical overview of the priests' celibacy in the history of the Church and specifically in Czech history is also included in the diploma paper, as well as theology of celibacy. Roman-Catholic Church, Orthodox Church in the Czech Lands and Slovakia and Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren are selected for the purpose of this work.

A man in consecrated life and his relationship to women

The aim of this thesis is to describe the history of celibacy in the Roman Catholic Church, to state the reasons why celibacy was introduced as obligatory for persons in consecrated life, and to comment on objections to it. There was described the history of celibacy from Jesus Christ to the Second Vatican Council, the theological and practical reasons for celibacy were given, as well as the most common objections to it with the arguments of the ecclesiastical authorities that defend celibacy. From its inception, the Church tended to introduce celibacy, but did not introduce it as a duty until 1139 at the Second Lateran Council. All subsequent councils have confirmed this law. The main theological reason for celibacy is the paragon in Jesus Christ, and for practical reasons it is above all freedom and time, thanks to which the celibate can devote himself fully to God or the Church.

Marie Žlábková - Höfnerová as a teacher and innovator

Diploma Thesis is focused on personality Marie Žlábkové-Höfnerové, Women who spread awareness and thoughts of women independence. First part of thesis is going to map path of world and Czech feminism, it´s Czech origins and changes in gender stereotypes, which it brought.Second part of thesis is focused on celibacy of teachers, as an historic phenomena, with so far unknown regional aspects. Main part of thesis is focused on less known character of Marie Žlábkové-Höfnerové, who as a teacher had personal experience with celibacy. Author of this diploma thesis is going to enhance current findings about life of this south bohemian educational worker.
